Monday, August 5, 2013  5:30–7:00 PM  BUTTERFLY PROJECT PLANNING SESSION  Join Chrissy Word of the Butterfly Project NYC to learn more about the connections between native plants and pollinators and how to encourage their presence in urban landscapes. The Renaissance Street Singers perform 15th- and 16th-century polyphonic sacred music a cappella on the sidewalks and in the public spaces of New York City. Their motivation is love for the music and the wish to share it with others.

Thursday, June 13, 8:30–9:30 PM  URBAN ECOLOGY: A NEW YORK CITY COMMUNITIES SLIDESHOW Gardener Amy Berkov of New York Botanical Garden and the American Museum of Natural History will present a riveting slide show of the city's ecology. (Yes, we have that here too.) She will discuss an idiosyncratic handful of the 243 natural and cultural communities in our own area. See how they thrive, barely noticed by urban dwellers.

Friday, June 21, 7:00–9:00 PM  EAST RIVER JAZZ BAND This mini-Big Band performs classic and new jazz, including Ellington, bossa novas, and originals. This show is part of the Make Music Festival, a citywide celebration of New York’s musicians. ERJB has horns, vocals, keys, and a rhythm section.
