Saturday, August 3, 2013  8:00–10:00 PM  SUCH AS US  The rollicking sounds of Such as Us created a sensation last year, so we're having them back. Enjoy a truly fun performance—on US.

Monday, August 5, 2013  5:30–7:00 PM  BUTTERFLY PROJECT PLANNING SESSION  Join Chrissy Word of the Butterfly Project NYC to learn more about the connections between native plants and pollinators and how to encourage their presence in urban landscapes. Participants will better understand ecological communities. More butterflies, more beauty! THIS EVENT IS MADE POSSIBLE BY A GRANT FROM THE CITIZEN'S COMMITTEE FOR NEW YORK CITY.

Tuesday, August 6, 2013  10:30–11:30 AM  STORYTIME READING FOR CHILDREN  Children and their caregivers are invited to join us for some stories and songs with Ms. Thea, our local children's librarian. Find out about all the free and wonderful programs happening at the Ottendorfer Library. (This is the last STORYTIME of the season! We love this event.)

Wednesday, August 7, 2013  7:30–9:30 PM  MoRUS Film Fest (MUSEUM OF RECLAIMED URBAN SPACE FILM FEST)  Featuring MORE THAN FLOWERS, directed by Laura Beer; LOISAIDA, AVENUE C, directed by Maeva Aubert; and a Paper Tiger TV special on the demolition of Esperanza Garden.

Thursday, August 8, 2013  7:30–9:30 PM  MoRUS Film Fest (MUSEUM OF RECLAIMED URBAN SPACE FILM FEST)  Film: 7TH STREET, with filmmaker Josh Paris in attendance. See our neighborhood in a new light.

Friday, August 9, 2013  8:00–9:00 PM  BAD DAD JAM featuring Rob Taube and friends: An evening of unplugged-style performances by singers who have worked with Rob at Bad Dad Studio in the East Village. Artists will include folk legends Randy Burns and Larry Seigel, along with a few up and coming originals.

Saturday, August 10, 2013  7:30–10:00 PM  SOUNDS IN THE GARDEN An eclectic mix of music with songwriters and performers from acoustic blues to ambient electronica. Come see a fabulous line-up.

Sunday, August 11, 2013  4:00–6:00 PM  DRAWING FROM NATURE Leslie Lowe teaches you to draw from the inspiration of our wonderful garden. A perfect setting for drawing nature, a wonderful chance to explore your creativity. Materials provided!

Saturday, August 17, 2013  7:30–10:30 PM  MUSIC UNDER THE STARS  Another star-studded night of musical singers, songwriters, and bands from L.E.S/East Village stages, clubs, and venues. Breathtaking artistry.

Sunday, August 18, 2013  1:00–4:00 PM  DRAWING IN THE GARDEN WITH A MODEL  This event has become so beloved that we've decided to supply basic art materials to those who want to drop by (but best to bring your own)! Artists of all skills and interests get a rare chance. Take advantage.

Sunday, August 18, 2013  2:00–4:00 PM  THE RENAISSANCE STREET SINGERS  Hear the beauty of the voice. The Renaissance Street Singers perform 15th- and 16th-century polyphonic sacred music a cappella on the sidewalks and in the public spaces of New York City. Their motivation is love for the music and the wish to share it with others.

Saturday, August 24, 2013  2:00–4:00 PM  KIDS' NATIVE PLANT WORKSHOP City kids go native! Look closely at plantings in our garden oasis. How many shades of green do you see? Create a close-up. Materials provided. Teens welcome. Children must be accompanied. Saturday August 24th. Workshop, 2PM. Paint, 3-4PM. Saturday, August 31, 2013  8:00–10:00 PM  ACTION RACKET THEATRE Action Racket Theatre will perform the splendid original play TAILORED TALES-SOMETHING TO SUIT EVERYBODY, that historically tours Radio Broadcasting from its beginnings in the 1920s to the present, featuring music and excerpts from decades of shows. RAIN DATE Sunday, Sept. 1, 8-10 PM.
